The Irish Guide Dog Association has been in operation for the last 35 years. It was founded by Jim Dennehy, who is visually impaired, in conjunction with Mary Dunlop. This is a well established national charity, based in Cork. They provide guide dogs for the visually impaired and assistance dogs for autistic children.
The Irish Guide Dogs have very kindly agreed to visit Scoil Nioclais in March. Three handlers will bring 2 dogs for the visually impaired and 1 assistance dog for autistic children to the school. A dog will visit each classroom and a brief presentation will be given. This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to see first hand the wonderful skills of these dogs. We look forward to this visit and to your continued support.
